A renowned Chicago firm of architects has been invited to join in a architectural competition for a museum extension project, together with Caretta+Weidmann. The deadline expires today, Friday, at midnight. The bid documentation must be mailed by then. If this cannot be done during office hours, a member of staff of Caretta+Weidmann will go to the night desk at the main post office at a late hour. But everyone is still working flat out at the moment. There has just been a video conference in which the Chicago office made final adjustments to the material concept. The costing team is now investigating what impact this will have on costs. The responsible team leader laughs: «Well, it‘s not least because of our flexibility that we have become eagerly sought partners, especially for architects abroad who are unfamiliar with competition rules in Switzerland and how things are done in the Swiss construction scene. For us, international cooperation is a gain. We feel bound to listen carefully until we have a clear idea of what our partners‘ plans are. We then show them how these plans can be implemented in this country».
